Frequently Asked Questions

I don't want to buy out the entire property; how do I go about booking a smaller group or meeting?

Groups of more than 5 rooms or 10 total room nights may qualify for special pricing under a Group Agreement.  Please give us a call, or visit our Groups & Meetings page to request information.

Is breakfast included with the room rate?

Yes - we believe in effortless luxury, and the ease of starting the day with a delicious meal featuring your choice of that morning's sweet or savory entrée. The team stands at the ready throughout breakfast (and at any time) to answer any questions you may have about fun things to see and savor at the Stavrand and throughout wine country.

Does the Stavrand accommodate full buy-outs of ALL rooms and nearly 6 acres?

Absolutely. We provide 21 guest rooms spread across 3 separate Houses for your reunion, corporate retreat, wedding, or other private event. Please contact groups@thestavrand.com to learn more and inquire about availability.

Can I swim in the pool during the winter?

Guests may swim in the pool year-round.  However, because the heating system is solar-powered, the water temperature can be brisk.  Many of our guests prefer to utilize the adjacent hot tub during the wintertime.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-out is 11am, and you are free to check-in anytime after 3pm.  We will always try to accommodate requests for early check-in whenever possible.  We staff reception 24 hours a day, but if you will be arriving after 9pm, we do appreciate knowing ahead of time, and can do our best to ensure any food you'd like is waiting for your late arrival.

Do you have truly high-speed internet service?

The Stavrand is proud to partner with Sonic for dedicated, gigabit fiber-optic internet. Stream your content to your heart’s content - we believe that being surrounded by beautiful nature in the country does not require sacrificing all the comforts of home. This feature also ensures that your board meeting or corporate retreat flows smoothly, irrespective of whether technology is involved.

I don’t want to drive - can I still get around?

We have you covered. There are local taxi services many of us like to use, such as Bill’s Taxi and R2T2 Taxi.  There are also a variety of restaurants, bars, and a tasting room right on Main Street, a ten-minute stroll away.

Thinking about a day-long wine tour and know you’ll be imbibing?  Contact our hosts and we can connect you with a driver or private tour guide you’ll adore.

What spa experiences do you provide?

Talented massage therapists will ease your tension and reset your mind. Choose between the convenience of a treatment within your own guestroom, or venture to our discrete outdoor deck to incorporate the sights and sounds of the redwoods into your experience. Please advise our hosts if you prefer a 60- or 90-minute treatment, and if you have a preference for therapist gender. Coming soon: a variety of facial treatments where experienced estheticians incorporate top-notch, non-toxic products.

Is the Stavrand dog-friendly?

Absolutely, in some rooms! Please call ahead to request a pet-friendly room.  Note that pets are only allowed in certain rooms of the Cazadero and Armstrong Houses, not in Belden House or Stavrand Hall (our indoor common areas). The $150 per stay fee includes deep cleaning services from our housekeeping team and amenities such as a dog bed and bowls for use during the stay.  The fee is the same for one or two dogs in the room (two is the allowed maximum number).  At check-in, pet owners need to sign an agreement form outlining hotel rules.

Is the hotel kid-friendly?

We welcome families with children. Please contact us if you’d like to request a room with sofa bed or rollaway (since our typical room offers one king bed), or if you’d like ideas for adventures kids might enjoy such as Sonoma’s zipline, Charles Schultz Museum, Safari West, and more. While adult-sized, we do offer floats and kayaks for lazy river days as well. Here at the hotel, lawn games and s’mores are always a hit!
