Frequently Asked Questions

See answers to some of the most commonly asked questions below. If you can’t find the answer to your question, please feel free to contact us!

Is breakfast included with the room rate?

Yes - we believe in effortless luxury, and the ease of starting the day with a delicious meal featuring your choice of that morning's sweet or savory entrée. The team stands at the ready throughout breakfast (and at any time) to answer any questions you may have about fun things to see and savor at the Stavrand and throughout wine country.

Does the Stavrand accommodate full buy-outs of ALL rooms and nearly 6 acres?

Absolutely. We provide 21 guest rooms spread across 3 separate Houses for your reunion, corporate retreat, wedding, or other private event. Please contact groups@thestavrand.com to learn more and inquire about availability.

Do you have truly high-speed internet service?

The Stavrand is proud to partner with Sonic for dedicated, gigabit fiber-optic internet. Stream your content to your heart’s content - we believe that being surrounded by beautiful nature in the country does not require sacrificing all the comforts of home. This feature also ensures that your board meeting or corporate retreat flows smoothly, irrespective of whether technology is involved.

I want to enjoy some downtime in my room; are food and drink options available?

Each of our rooms is outfitted with a carefully-curated array of snacks ranging from classic indulgences to healthy local bites. You’ll also find Russian River AVA wines and a variety of spirits available in your minibar. For full meals, including Chef’s casual hot items, enjoy our 7-day-a-week All Day Dining menu – available via room service to your room, the pool, or fireside at the Belden House!

What spa experiences do you provide?

Talented massage therapists will ease your tension and reset your mind. Choose between the convenience of a treatment within your own guestroom, or venture to our discrete outdoor deck to incorporate the sights and sounds of the redwoods into your experience. Please advise our hosts if you prefer a 60- or 90-minute treatment, and if you have a preference for therapist gender. Coming soon: a variety of facial treatments where experienced estheticians incorporate top-notch, non-toxic products.

Is the Stavrand dog-friendly?

Absolutely, our ownership group includes a bevvy of canine lovers! Well-behaved dogs are welcome at the hotel by prior appointment, and we just ask that they be kept on a leash at all times. Please note that pets are only allowed in the Cazadero and Armstrong Houses, not in Belden House or Stavrand Hall (our indoor common areas). The $100 per stay fee includes special deep cleaning services by our housekeeping team and amenities such as a dog bed and bowls for use during the stay. We expect you’ll want your pup with you on your adventures, but if you do need to leave Rover solo for a bit, please contact us in advance to arrange pet-sitting/walking services.

Is the hotel kid-friendly?

We welcome families with children. Please contact us if you’d like to request a room with sofa bed or rollaway (since our typical room offers one king bed), or if you’d like ideas for adventures kids might enjoy such as Sonoma’s zipline, Charles Schultz Museum, Safari West, and more. While adult-sized, we do offer floats and kayaks for lazy river days as well. Here at the hotel, lawn games and s’mores are always a hit!

Can I swim in the pool during the winter?

Yes! We heat the pool and hot tub year-round. The pool is open from 7am – 10pm daily (exclusively for hotel guests).

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-out is 11am, and you are free to check-in anytime after 3pm.  We will always try to accommodate requests for early check-in whenever possible.  We staff reception 24 hours a day, but if you will be arriving after 9pm, we do appreciate knowing ahead of time, and can do our best to ensure any food you'd like is waiting for your late arrival.

I don’t want to drive - can I still get around?

We have you covered. There are local taxi services many of us like to use, such as Bill’s Taxi and R2T2 Taxi. Uber and Lyft are also available, albeit at a bit different pace than in cities. Thinking about a day-long wine tour and know you’ll be imbibing?  Contact our hosts and we can connect you with a driver or private tour guide you’ll adore.

What date does the Stavrand open and start receiving hotel guests?

Late August
